Following the biggest week of the 2026 race for Florida Governor, Senators Jay Trumbull and Tom Leek are throwing their support behind ByronDonalds. While the rest of the primary field remains fractured, Donalds is uniting Republicans, building support, and proving why he is the clear choice to lead Florida into the future.
Senator Trumbull, who represents Northwest Florida in the Florida Senate, joins the growing list of Republican officials who have rallied around Byron in recent weeks.

Senator Leek, a longtime conservative voice in the Florida legislature, also announced his support for Byron’s campaign this week.
“I’m honored to have Senator Tom Leek’s support,” Donalds continued. “Tom has been a consistent conservative leader in the Florida legislature, and I look forward to partnering with him to build on Florida’s success by growing our economy, cutting unnecessary government waste, and ensuring our state remains the nation’s leader in freedom and opportunity.”
Senators Leek and Trumbull’s endorsements follow a remarkable wave of support that makes one thing undeniable: the Republican Party is unified, and it is unified behind Byron Donalds.
Last week, Donalds secured the endorsements of Florida’s incoming House Speaker and Senate President, and the endorsement of the entire Florida Cabinet, with Chief Financial Officer Wilton Simpson, Commissioner of Agriculture Blaise Ingoglia, and Attorney General James Uthmeier all standing behind his candidacy.
United States Senator Ashley Moody threw her support behind Donalds, with the two set to campaign side by side across Florida as part of a joint show of Republican unity heading into November.
That firepower is backed by historic fundraising numbers. The Byron Donalds for Governor Campaign announced with Friends of Byron Donalds a combined $90 million total raised cycle-to-date from 37,000 donors, including a staggering $23 million in the second quarter alone.
