BYRON DONALDS

Most Transparent Government in America

What It Is

Florida taxpayers deserve to know exactly how their money is being spent. My administration will make Florida the most transparent and accountable government in America by expanding audits, publishing spending information online, and giving taxpayers direct access to contracts, salaries, budgets, and fees at every level of government.

What It Does

Stop Waste Before it Happens
Regular forensic audits help identify waste, fraud, and inefficiency before problems become permanent.

Follow Every Dollar
Taxpayers should be able to easily see where government money is going and what they are getting in return.

One Standard for Accountability
Every taxpayer-funded entity should meet the same transparency standards.

Florida taxpayers deserve to know exactly how their money is being spent.

Yet too often, important financial information is buried in paperwork, scattered across multiple websites, or only available through lengthy public records requests. Information that belongs to the public should not be difficult to access.

Meanwhile, audits continue to uncover spending that many taxpayers never knew existed.

In Jacksonville, a city manager approved $75,000 to build a hologram of the mayor to greet travelers at the airport. In Pensacola, taxpayers are funding $150,000 per year for performances at a city-owned theater. In Broward County, auditors identified nearly $890,000 spent on DEI training programs. In Orange County, taxpayers spend more than $9 million annually on a security contractor despite repeated audit findings regarding performance concerns.

Most Floridians would never have known about these expenditures if auditors had not uncovered them.

Taxpayers should not have to wait for an audit to learn how their money is being spent.

Transparency should be the default, not the exception.

The Plan

  • Conduct annual forensic audits across state and local government.
  • Expand DOGE-style reviews of taxpayer-funded programs.
  • Create a searchable statewide spending and contract database.
  • Publish local government salary information alongside state salary records.
  • Require online publication of local budgets and financial reports.
  • Add tax allocation charts to annual property tax notices.
  • Increase transparency requirements for taxpayer funded entities.
  • Review local fees and require greater disclosure of how they are calculated and spent

Government works best when the people can see what it is doing.

By making audits routine, publishing spending information in one place, and giving taxpayers direct access to government financial data, Florida can become the most transparent and accountable government in America.

It’s your money. It’s your government. You deserve to know where every dollar goes.

Every dime online. Real transparency. Real accountability.
